Lope and the Garbo. The unexpected visit of the Phoenix of Ingenuity is a theatrical production that brings audiences closer to the figure and work of Lope de Vega, one of the great Spanish Golden Age authors, from a contemporary, relatable, and humorous perspective. Actresses María Cubas and Pili Lucena, known as the Garbo Girls, start from a simple yet thought-provoking question: could we understand Lope de Vega today? Based on this idea, they construct a show where classical theater and the present dialogue on stage, demonstrating that great texts still have much to say today. Through an original staging, classical verse bursts into the world of these two comedians to invite the audience to rediscover Lope's literary legacy from a fresh, fun, and accessible perspective. A reflection on how our cultural past continues to be part of who we are. The show also features musical accompaniment on piano by Pere Pelegrí, adding an extra artistic dimension to this unique stage production. An opportunity to enjoy a performance that combines theater, literature, music, and humor, bringing Lope de Vega's work to the public in an original and surprising way.
