About the event
José Soto Chica, Doctor of Medieval History, invites us to a fascinating lecture on Pelayo. We will explore the historical figure of this character, traditionally considered the first sovereign of the Kingdom of Asturias. We will analyze what we know about the historical Pelayo and how his legend was forged, addressing the complex boundary between history and legend surrounding his origins, life, and military feats. Pelayo belongs to that lineage of heroes to whom tradition attributes epic victories and a decisive role in the destiny of their people, but whose existence and deeds remain shrouded in mystery. Free admission.
