About the event
Menorca will celebrate the International Day of Geodiversity on October 2nd and 3rd with outreach activities organized by the Menorca Biosphere Reserve Agency and the Spanish Geological Society. This event, part of the annual meeting of the Geological Heritage Commission, will offer attendees the chance to explore and understand the local geological heritage. The program includes an outreach session on Friday afternoon in the Sala de Actes of the Consell Insular de Menorca, where specialists will discuss topics such as geological conservation, fossil collecting, and the connection between geology and biodiversity. On Saturday, two field trips will be held for families and the general public to discover the island's geological richness on-site. The event aims to promote the interpretation of the Menorcan landscape, reflection on the importance of geodiversity, highlight the relationship between history, culture, and the natural environment, and make scientific knowledge accessible.
